Dumfries finally got his head in front, having performed some dishonorable antics pre race.  Luckily Jimmy isn’t one to quit and having taken the blinkers off he’d been wearing recently we decided to drop him in and ride him to pass horses from his moderate draw.   We sat last from the gates and passed every horse up the straight!

DUMFRIES, not for the first time, unseated his rider on the way to the post. The race worked out perfectly for the gelding, though, as he’s a keen-going type and the good gallop allowed him to settle out the back and come with a relentless run in the straight. He still looked awkward while doing so, and wouldn’t be an obvious type to follow up.”
