National Racehorse Week Open Morning – 25th August 2026
We had a fantastic morning welcoming visitors to Mowbray House for our National Racehorse Week Open Morning, giving us the chance to show people a little more about how we do things differently at Ruth Carr Racing.
Guests were able to get up close to the action as the horses exercised loose, before watching them head outside and enjoy turnout together in their herds. Ruth was on hand throughout the morning to talk about our approach, explain why we do things the way we do and answer plenty of great questions from visitors.
Once the horses had finished exercising, it was the youngsters’ turn, with the children getting the chance to have a run around the exercise areas themselves — although perhaps not quite at racehorse speed!
There was plenty of time to chat over tea, coffee, biscuits and Mum’s homemade lemon drizzle cake, with visitors generously helping us raise over £100 for Racing Welfare.
A big thank you to Mum for capturing the morning on camera and everyone who came along. We really enjoyed opening our doors and sharing a different side of life in a racing yard — and, most importantly, letting our horses show everyone what they enjoy doing too.
